The Jalisco (Mexico) Avocado Industry at glance: 2,200 avocado producers registered in the state of Jalisco will join the nearly 30,000 Michoacán producers, whose production area will exceed 200,000 hectares of cultivated area this year.
Michoacán and Jalisco are expected to export this year approximately just over 1.3 million metric tons to the US market and that next year the figure will exceed 1.5 million tons.
This will represent an export value of more than 3 billion dollars per year. Everything seems to indicate that the next Mexican state that could join this select club of exporters is the State of Mexico, which today already has 6 municipalities with an official declaration of phytosanitary safety, which are: Donato Guerra, Temascaltepec, Villa de Allende, Coatepec, Ixtapan del Oro and San Simón de Guerrero.
